Oooh. The perfect title cause it’s TRUE!!!

Meet T.  T and Peach (my daughter, if you’re new to the blog!) are best of friends.  They were born on the very same day, too, which is always fun.  She always has a friend to celebrate her birthday with!

Their birthday is just a couple days away, so we had a little photo shoot for this ALMOST 4-year-old.

He’s silly, he’s smart (TONS of insect and dinosaur facts!), and loves to have a good time.

He has the cutest, high-pitched dolphin laugh, too, sometimes.  Can’t you just hear it in the picture below?  I can’t remember what we were taking about, but it must have been hilarious!  🙂

We had LOTS of fun!  Here are a couple to choose from, J–I love all these little glimpses of him!  🙂      ~m

I got a phone call yesterday from a friend — Amy Milliron.  A friend I met several years ago when both of our little kiddos had swim lessons together.  Each week we’d chat about everything under the sun…what we did that week, what we were planning on doing, favorite this, favorite that…  Over time, we came to find out that we had very similar backgrounds — we both taught public school for several years (and were passionate about it!), were both stay-at-home moms, there was a long list…

Anyway, Amy has some VERY exciting news to share and I got to be part of the beginning stages today!

She has announced her campaign for a seat on the Kyrene School District No. 28 Governing Board for the November 4, 2008 General Election (wahooooo!).

Honestly, the first thing I did when she told me was smile.  Her background as a teacher, mother, and someone who truly fights for what she believes in (another story there–just google her name and you’ll see how she has changed laws in various East Valley cities in regards to breastfeeding) just seems like the perfect fit.

Soooooo…here are some images for her campaign!  We had lots of fun today (and have lots to choose from).  🙂

Amy recently started a website, www.amymilliron.com, so stop by if you’d like!  I can’t wait to see where Amy goes with this — she is truly explosive in everything she does (as in WOW…she makes a difference)!   She needs lots of signatures and other campaign related assistance, so if you’re willing, stop by and see how you can help.

Have one SUPER day.  ~m

ETA: two more to choose from!

You see, the mom of this cutie and I are pals.  In April (uh huh…waaaaay back then) I asked mom if I could borrow her daughter for a mini photo shoot.  I wanted to try out a location that a family requested — ya know, check for lighting, see what i thought, etc.  Well, it was swell, until we were busted by a guard, but we still got some great pics.  Some of those were posted here and here

^ Love that little head peeking out!!!  I love the curves and lines in this image.

ANYWAY, after that photo shoot, I got SUPER busy and haven’t been able to breathe much since.  Mom gave me a “gentle reminder” (seriously, my friends have to do that sometimes!) that she’d love to see some more of the pics…SO I dug DEEP into the archives and edited a couple.

THANK YOU, S, for letting me borrow your cutie.  Isn’t she SOOOO adorable???  I *heart* her spunk…always have.    ~m^  Look at all the fun she had!!!  [Some fun post processing!!!]  ALL your images are ready, S!!!  🙂

Oh, and P.S.  — some ROCKIN’ blog changes are coming our way!  Can’t wait to give you a tour!!!

Can you really put a price on photography?

What is it worth?  to you?  to me?  to Grandma?

It’s impossible to know.

All I know is that when I look back at the images of my children from 3 years ago, 2 years ago, 1 year ago, or even yesterday, I think to myself…”Sheesh…they’re growing up sooo quickly.”  I love being able to capture their every move, milestone, favorite something-or-other.  I love having a constant record of their lives.

BUT, when someone else can capture them for me, it’s different.  A lovely kind of different.  Someone else has a different eye, different artsy approach, different view of their cute spots.

So, when Jen, her hubby Trev, and my pal Jess came out to visit last month, Jen started snapping pics as soon as Peachie brought out the Play-Doh.  When Peach wanted to pretend it was her birthday (she was making Play-Doh cakes with Trev) and wanted REAL lit candles, I happily obliged because it was a special treat.

It felt REALLY nice, at this particular moment, not to have my camera out.  Don’t get me wrong…I LOVE taking pics, but I just watched Jen do her thing and knew that I’d be receiving some phenomenal pics in a couple weeks.

Yesterday when I was doing my nightly blog surfing, I clicked on her blog and I was SOOO thrilled, and flattered that she’d do a post on my kiddos.  LOVED it.

So thanks, Jen, for capturing my cuties.  You know I love your style.  Thanks for giving me permission to snag this storyboard, too!  🙂

My point of alllll this above is…it’s nice to take a bit of a break and have others take some pics of your kids (even if they’re not professional photographers).  Whether they try to or not, they will have a different perspective than you will, so sit back and enjoy what is taking place!  It’s SO NICE to see the world through someone else’s eyes and there’s nothing better than pictures of your loved ones.

OR…if you want…you can always have a professional photographer take pics of your kiddos and/or family.  That’s always fun, too.  🙂  For some parents, it’s hard getting over the initial — “Oh, man…I don’t want MY picture taken,” but it’s soooo fun to look back at those images and remember those fun times.  Plus, photographing a family is FUN!  🙂  Photographing KIDS is fun!!!

{I totally got sidetracked.}

Anyway, if you’d like, hop on over to Jen’s blog to check out the rest of my kiddo pics!!!  She’s super sweet and has some incredible stuff on there.  🙂

Oh, and to sum it all up…Jen’s pics are priceless to me.  Really.  They’re perfect.  They’re my kids being themselves–happy, playful, cute.  Those candid moments that I want to remember forever.  I’m so thankful she was able to capture that time for me.

Thanks, girl.  {mwah!}     ~m
