Archive for the ‘Photo shoot / family’ Category

So, yesterday Jen and I spent the whole day with Shannon Sewell for a two-on-one mentoring session in Portland.  I can’t wait to put all the things I learned to use in a way that fits me and my style!  🙂   My brain still feels like it’s about to burst!

We photographed a stylin’ family, which was awesome (especially in preparation for the holiday mini-sessions happening soon!).   AND there was a super special surprise guest…WRECKLESS GIRL!!!!  I was thrilled because I’ve been following her blog for a long while.  Her style is just so unique and always inspirational.

^ Shannon in action!  🙂

^ Kristy (AKA Wreckless Girl) guitarrin’ it with a yard flamingo  🙂

Both photographers we met with have so much to offer are are extremely humble about their art.  Thank you, ladies, for taking the time to share a little of how you do things with US!

Couple more pics of these kiddos…

^  CUTE little guy

^ Super sweet big bro

I fly back home tomorrow BUT before that we’re having breakfast with our pal Jess AND a then another fab photo shoot! Woo hoo!  Gorgeous Manda will make her bloggity debut!  🙂

I can’t belive my trip’s over so soon.  I miss my family like CRAZY, so that will be just lovely.  I’ll definitely miss my GIRL JEN though!  We’ve spent so much time “talking shop” & sharing our little “secrets” with each other.

Have a super day.  ~m

At long last, info for the super fun holiday minis is here!  I can’t wait to start taking holiday pics, designing cards, AND help you in creating lasting images of your family!  Photos are awesome gifts, too!  🙂

I know it’s incredibly hard to think about the holidays right now when it’s 111 degrees here in Phoenix, BUT there are only 18 more weekends until Christmas — that makes me shake in my boots!!!

Why are we scheduling holiday shoots now???  Not only do I need to shoot and edit sessions (a 2 week process) but it takes a bit (2+ weeks) to order/receive cards and images, too.  I’m sure my photo lab is going to be feeling the pressure because holiday cards are the IN THING right now!  And BOY do I have some incredible cards for you (a weakness of mine–options will be posted throughout the week!).  🙂

Here’s the info you’ve been waiting for…  (OH, and read allllll the way down for a super offer for 1 lucky fam!)

There are only a LIMITED NUMBER OF SESSIONS available throughout the next 3 months (whether you choose a mini session or a full session), so if you’re interested, make sure to send me an email and sign up before they’re gone! Speaking of gone, once the minis are booked in September the month is full!  🙂  I try my best to keep the “Availability” portion of this blog (look up top) current if you have a date in mind.

A little more info on the minis…

THE FINE PRINT

  • those who email with date/time preferences first get the first slots
  • payment, in full, must be received within one week in order to hold your date and time
  • sessions prices are up to 4 people ($25 extra per person)
  • $50 mini session print credit may only be used toward gift and wall prints
  • additional holiday cards, prints, and digital negatives may be purchased
  • all final print orders must be made by 11/28 to receive prints before Christmas

If you choose to have a regular session (more time + images than a mini), it needs to take place by 11/9 to receive holiday items (gift prints, cards, etc).   Session prices are located on my website www.maggiemcdonaldphotography.com under “investments.”

Oh, and if you’re doing a mini, since these sessions are so short, in your email to me with your preferred time(s) and date(s), please choose whether the session is a family session (only images of the family are taken — no individual shots of family members) or a child session (focus is on up to two children and sibling groups).  The goal is for you to have an incredible image (or two or three or…) for your holiday cards, as well as amazing images for your walls (+ gifts for friends and family).

AND if you made it this far (thank you, thank you!!!) I have two offers:

1) if you or your family have been photographed within the last 6 months by moi, you may purchase holiday cards with a favorite image from your session for $8 off a set (that means 24 gorgeous press-printed 5×7 flat cards for $42).  how cool is that!?

2) And the best part….SEEKING one adventurous, spirited family to do a mini session trial run on Sunday, August 31.  The first fam that I get an email from will get 50% off the session + all the other perks that come with the mini (it’ll cost ya $100 for all that!).  Doesn’t matter who you are or if you’ve ever had a session with me…friends/fam are just fine, too!

Okay, I think I’ve covered just about everything.  Thanks for your interest!  My email is maggiejmcd@msn.com if you’d like to reserve your session!  I will do my best to get back to your emails promptly and keep the availability page updated.  Have a GREAT Friday!  🙂

My best,

Maggie

These two kids were SO gorgeous and super sweet.

Photographed them at a workshop a while back and I knew I needed to go back and edit some of these.  WOW…are they cute!!!  🙂

Speaking of workshops….I am SOOOO excited to say that at the end of the month, I’m going to be going to a mentoring session in the Portland area with an AMAZING photographer named Shannon Sewell.  She is so creative and has such a great grasp on everything from kiddo to engagement sessions!  Her use of color is fantabulous and her work is just so happy to me.

I. can’t. wait.

I always get a huge boost and learn so much when I attend workshops, or even get together with other photographers……..yesssssss!  ***I’m so excited to be a sponge!!!***

Have one terrific day.   ~m

I am SO excited to share that I was accepted to be a part of a national organization called “Celebrating Adoption.”   Giving back to my community is incredibly important to me — Celebrating Adoption connects photographers with families that have opened their hearts and homes to newly adopted children — what an incredible opportunity!

If you have adopted a child within the last year, or know of someone who has, I would be honored to schedule a complimentary session for your/their family (other perks come with this, too!!!).

Adoption is incredibly dear to my heart, as I have had students, great friends, as well as family that were adopted or chose to adopt.  I’ve seen so many lives change in such an amazing way and would love to be a small part of this experience.  I don’t think I can put into words how this opportunity feels — my intent is to capture the emotion, excitement, personality, everything, so that families can remember this exciting first year.

Please send me an email if you’re interested == maggie@maggiemcdonaldphotography.com   Oh, and I book several weeks to a month in advance and can only schedule a certain number of sessions per month, so get those calendars out.  🙂  I’m EXCITED!!!

Please check out www.celebratingadoption.org (if you’re interested) and have one super day!

Aren’t they gorgeous?

These two models, from a past workshop, show how strong the mother and a baby bond is.  Even with just hand holding, it’s obvious how safe (and loved) baby W feels — even with a bazillion cameras in her face.  Thank you, E for sharing yourself and little W that day.  🙂  You both completely glow!    ~m

Thank you SO much, J, for being a part of this!  And L…thanks for being fun[ky] fun this weekend.  Miss you already.

Lots, lots, lots more to share in the upcoming weeks.  Keep checkin’ back and HEY…thanks so much for stopping by.  🙂    ~m
