FREE?  What’s free these days???  READ ON, blog friends!!!  🙂

PHOTOGRAPHER SEEKS:  ONE fun[ky] family for a complimentary photo shoot — photographer wants to have fun and do something she’s never done before!

Family will benefit by having tons-o-fun, a free session ($175 value), free 8×10 ($35 value) of their favorite image, and be able to share their family slideshow (via an online link) with friends and family.

I’m looking for a family with a killer idea for a session.  Something different.  Unusual.  Fun.  You.  A crazy idea that somehow fits in with your fam.

Is there something special your family does together…like bowl every Sunday or go camping one weekend every year in June?   Wouldn’t it be FUN to have your own personal photographer along for the afternoon to capture those memories?  How could you spice up that family time together to make it extra memorable?

Is there something ZANY that you think would be an extra-fun photo op, like everyone dressing up in western get-up and heading over to Rawhide for the afternoon?  OR having a mini-golf date?

It can be “out there”…it can be meaningful…(it would be awesome if it was BOTH!)…it needs to be “you” and just fit.  😉

Email entries to me:  maggiejmcd@msn.com  by Friday, June 6th at midnight with “PHOTO OP” in the subject.  Make sure to tell the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE and WHY.  Be creative!  If you need to give some background…tell a little story…that’s fine, too.    Oh, and the photo shoot will take place the last week in June or the beginning of July.  We’ll compare schedules!

This Friday 6/6, at midnight, I will compile all of the entries and email them to 3 judges who know me and/or my style extremely well (2 are photographers in another state, 1 is my sister!).  These judges will read through the proposals and decide which session sounds like the best fit for me (which one caters to my style, which one sounds like lots of fun, which one is totally different and will allow me to grow as a photographer???).

*If you’ve already had a family session with me before, GO FOR IT!  I’d love to work with you and your family again.  I will not be part of the decision making process, so it’s not up to me.  All names will be removed by me before they’re sent to the judges!!!  Completely fair…everyone has an equal chance.

^ And here’s a pic of the family that inspired this whole promotion.  When I booked this session with mom several months ago, she wanted the location to be where she was proposed to by her husband.  I thought that was amazing.  It TOTALLY took the photo shoot to the next level.  When I was there, I couldn’t help but think constantly about their special history in that VERY SPOT and NOW they were sharing it with their kids.  It was so heartwarming.

When mom mentioned having the family climb into the tree I was thrilled!  I thought it was a total fun idea and I LOVE that she thought out of the box and was willing to do something different!!!  I LOVED her spontaneity.

On a side note…before this actual shoot, I had to call and ask for permission from the management company because I was busted when I tried out the location with a little model.  Once I shared with them the love story, the company was happy to let us do our thing.  🙂  SO, anything’s possible.  Let’s do it!  Bring those fun ideas on!!!  I can’t wait.  🙂    ~m

Oh, and if you don’t think your idea is “different” enough, submit it anyway!  Might as well go for it!

So, I’m chatting with my pal JB on the phone and all of a sudden I realize I haven’t heard from Peach in a couple minutes.  I peek around the corner and Peach is looking VERY busy AND regal (and hilarious).  I’m thinkin’ Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Molly Ringwald meets a stylin’ fairy???

She had FULLY raided her dress up trunks (she has three) and found some *great* stuff to wear.  See her putting a tutu and crown on her giraffe?  🙂

>Her chosen dress up items<

*fluffy tutu

*rockin’ skeleton leggings

^ high heels (complete WITH hot pink and fur)

*foxy pastel angel wings (which, I think, make the outfit!)

*sparkly beaded crown (She would say “Farkley Crown”)   🙂

She was lookin H.O.T. — HOT!

I had to bite my lip because she was SO serious about her little outfit and proceeded to dress everyone (and everyTHING) else up.

^ Both dogs were part of the fiesta (along with Mr. Giraffe and a willing stuffed frog).

^ She even tried to get heels on Fella — didn’t happen.

Guess what happened later on…

BRIGHT red lipstick all over her lips…and other random parts of her face.  Little sneak went right into the bathroom, applied, and then came out as if nothing had changed.  Scared her momma for sure!  🙂

It’s SO much fun to watch her little imagination run wild — I can totally deal with a little lipstick sneakage every now and then as long as I get the cute moments, too.   I have a feeling I’m in for a lot of both!!!

Couldn’t resist posting just one from this session…she (and her hubby, who you will see later!) made my job soooo easy.  🙂

It was so much fun to do a couple photo shoots at the beach.  Can’t wait to start editing all my images!  This one was calling my name though…I have SOOO much to post, but will be editing some family sessions first (done BEFORE my trip — ahhhhh)!

Notice anything new????  This “new” thing will appear only for photo shoots of the adult variety — headshots, maternity, fashion…just something a little more fitting!  I’ve been working on it with a designer for a while and LOOOOOOVE it!   First person who leaves a comment below telling me what’s new will get a Renee & Jeremy CD sent to them!  Wooo hoooo!

Oh, and today was just totally fab.  Can’t even really put it into words.  We’re SOOO glad we came on this fun trip, but are also VERY VERY VERY excited to see the kiddos.  Only a couple more hours…   ~m

Well…..I’m here…but just for a minute.  I had 7 photo shoots over the weekend — they were all so incredibly fun and different.  I’m loving the changes here — weather, textures, colors (tons-o-green), WATER!!!, people.  I was able to see (and photograph) a performance of a vocal group I used to be in, the Orange Park Chorale Ensemble.   It was nice visiting with old friends…and new ones.

Today — a day off.  I woke hearing the ocean outside our window and it was so lovely to just open our balcony door and watch the waves crash.  Ahhh…living on the beach (at least for the couple days we’re here) has been wonderful.  Today, we relaxed on the balcony & took some beach walks (on the hunt for seashells for the kiddos).

We’ve loved dining at some of our old favorite restaurants, too!

Tomorrow….a TOTAL day of relaxation.  Massages and then more pampering for me (facial, mani and pedi with my great pal, C) while hubs goes to a dude flick (Iron Man).  I swear, it’s been forever since I’ve had any sort of fancy stuff like this!

Then, we come home.

We’ve missed the pumpkins like crazy…have spoken with them quite a bit, which makes me miss them even more…

It’s been nice, but getting back into the swing of things at home will be great, too!  I promise I’ll be a good blogger when I return.  I have SOOOO many images to show…it’s so exciting.

Annnnnd there’s going to be a small change to my logo (fun!) & some price restructuring (not so fun!)…so stay tuned.  🙂

Thanks for all your sweet comments.  🙂    ~m

^ Check out that MOSS on the trees!  Lovin’ it!  🙂

Howdee from Jacksonville, Florida, where we lived for two years (about 3 years ago).  We were here just long enough to make some great friends and over the next couple days it’ll be great to hang out with some awesome peeps!!!

Today, I had a photo shoot for a massage business called MassageFIRST & tomorrow, a beach family shoot, headshot shoot, AND a maternity beach photo session.  I am EXCITED!

I truly forgot how beautiful it is here!  All the green is just gorgeous, and the way the light shines on the waterways is just stunning.  My eyeballs are HUGE!!!

Tonight, after our plans changed due to a 4 inch nail in a tire (yipes…thankfully, everything worked out), we got take out from a TOTAL Jacksonville hole in the wall.  Beach Road Chicken.  Oh man…fun (quite an experience), delicious and home cookin’ at its best.

Here’s my lovely friend C!  Alllll excited about our dinner…  You’ll see more of her (and her fam) tomorrow!

Thanks, by the way, for all the vacations wishes.  I SO appreciate your comments.  {mwah!!!}   ~m

Oh, and Happy Bday to my dear friend, Jules.  🙂  We’ll celebrate this MILESTONE soon, when we’re both home, girl!

Soooo much

Today was a whirlwind.  I have learned so much my noggin is spinning.

Jess and I have just chatted for four hours straight (and that’s after a two hour dinner with photographers)…yipes.  Another super busy day tomorrow learning about photoshop. Yes!  Once I learn the BIG SECRETS, I’ll photoshop a couple images and post!  Get ready for some cuties tomorrow.

Sad my pals have to leave.  😦     ~m

Still up…

Was planning on posting some images I edited earlier today, but I’m in Fella’s room (and he’s deciding to not fall asleep).  It’s only…oh…1:30am.  Ugh.

It was awesome to see my photographer pals today.  I picked them up at separate airports (who knew Mesa had a dinky airport with direct flights to Bellingham, WA?) and then we dined on “Italian” grub at Oregano’s.  It was a TOTAL hit, especially that pizza cookie.  🙂   I’m shocked Jen’s hubby hung in there so long (with all the photog. talk) but he was a great sport.

Tomorrow, Jess is giving us a huge Lightroom tutorial and we’re going to have some casual photo shoots.  Then a meet-and-greet for the actual workshop.  Yea!  Will post pics tomorrow from our day!  ~m

Oh, and Jill…it’s SHORT!  🙂
